Does Zone 3 time make an endurance ride a bad ride?
Not automatically. The question is whether the intensity matches the purpose of the session and repeats often enough to affect recovery or the wider training pattern.
Can heart rate alone prove an endurance ride became tempo?
No. Heart rate is an internal-response signal. Power, perceived effort, duration, conditions, and reliable personal zone settings improve the comparison.
Why compare several rides instead of one?
A repeated signal across comparable sessions is stronger evidence than one unusual ride, which may reflect terrain, weather, pacing, recovery, or measurement error.
Do I need a power meter for this comparison?
